Information for visitors
- Arrival and departure:
A few hints about the airport, the railroad station and how to get from there
to the city.
- Getting around: Some
information on how to get around within the city (bus, subway, city map,...)
and outside the city (taking a train, renting a car,...). Includes
directions to our Department.
- Sightseeing and more: Our
particular and subjective suggestions about what to see, where to eat, and
more.

and links
Main subject of interest:
Discrete/Combinatorial/Computational Geometry
General areas of interest: Discrete Mathematics/Computer
Science/Classical Geometry
Responsible for the UPC Computational Geometry
Group .
Research activities in Computational
Geometry started at the UPC in the early nineties, with the work of Professors
Hurtado, Noy, Serra and Trias. An official Line of Research (UPC code
12030905) was created in 1993. Due to the background of many members of the
Group, the interface with Combinatorics and Graph Theory is an specially
active area of research.
UPC Computational Geometry
Research Seminar.
The UPC Computational Geometry Seminar
is organized by the Research Group on Discrete, Combinatorial and Algorithmic
Geometry of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, under the responsability
of Profs. Hurtado and Noy. The Seminar started its regular sessions at the
beginning of the course 1993-1994. Since then, it has been regularly hold once
a week, in the period September-June.
UPC
PhD Program on Applied Mathematics.
The UPC PhD Program on Applied
Mathematics is jointly held by several departments and sections at the UPC and
is coordinated at the School of Mathematics and Statistics. There are four
main branches: Algebra and Geometry, Discrete and Algorithmic Mathematics,
Computational Mechanics (Differential Partial Equations and Numerical Methods)
and Dynamic Systems (Control and Modelling). The additional areas are
Functional Equations, Stochastic Models and Mathematical Models for
Qualitative Reasoning.
LIMDA.
LIMDA (Laboratori de Matemàtica Discreta
i Algorísmica) is a joint Lab of several research groups at the UPC
(Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya) which share a common interest in the
area of Discrete Mathematics, Theoretical Computer Science and Applications.
The laboratory was founded in 1997 as a meeting place for the researchers of
the area in the UPC, to foster cooperation and to coordinate the collaboration
in research projects at regional, national and european levels.
